This summer, I had the opportunity to be part of an upcoming social network called Helpspring. The app is still in development by Aboundant Digital Agency, a Waverly-based company that specializes in forward-thinking, faith-based media creation. The basic rundown of the app is as follows: a social network less about gaming attention, and more about inspiring a good difference in the world. Built to help fight the loneliness epidemic, users are encouraged to 'Spring' different Actions, which are real-world events. Actions can range from volunteering events to something as simple as a night out at the movies with new friends.
While on this internship, I have:
-used gimbals, lighting kits, and various cameras
-gotten better at video editing
-created casting calls and contracts
-networked by finding actors
-learned the basics of Figma
-gotten better at scriptwriting
-gotten better at drafting and revisions
-learned more about accessories like light kits and gimbals
-benchmarked other app demos
-dove deep into marketing
-improved my soundtracking abilities
I'm sure there is much that I am forgetting, but these are the big ones that come to mind.
This internship is the most I have made use of my technical skills from college away from college. It was fun to put the theory into practice, and I'm glad it was for a company whose ideals I share. I would continue to work with my Aboundant after this if the opportunity arises again.
Going forward, I want to continue to pursue creativity-focused jobs and gigs that do something good for the world. I am very grateful for the opportunity that my supervisor, Wil, gave to me!
